Today is the run-off election for the primary of August 5. In the run-off, you are allowed to vote only for the party that you voted for in the primary. This leaves me with only two races to vote in: the Republican Party run off for treasurer, and the run-off for Agriculture and Commerce Commissioner. The choices in the treasurer race are a young investment manager at Trustmark, or the former Central District Transportation commissioner. I went with the banker in the primary, and I will again. Tate Reeves, endorsed by me for Treasurer.
In the Agriculture and Commerce Commissioner race, there's a guy from Louisville and a guy from Taylorsville. I don't know anything about them, or the job both of them want. I'll probably just flip a coin.
But of course I have no local races to vote in. Why? Because Hattiesburg would rather bitch about how things are falling apart for South Mississippi than do anything about it. Does no one feel the tug of duty?
