Chris Lawrence thoughtfully reviews my proposed canonical list for the most import USSC cases for people to read. My list was assembled based essentially on two criteria: good reading, and things I find important. I guess it rather obviously reveals a Libertarian bias, since I rate Slaughter House so highly, where Chris correctly notes that its importance has been rather eclipsed by later cases.
Oh, and Chris- welcome to the blogroll.
EDIT: As for Flood v. Kuhn, it's on there as a special piece of vileness. No Supreme Court opinion should ever, in my mind, draw its moral authority from Casey at the Bat. Flood and Roe are the blueprints for everything a Supreme Court case ought not to be, and both are coincidentally written by Justice Harry Blackmun.
