Professor Bainbridge wants a "low-slung rear wheel-drive ragtop with a 300+ HP in-line six". Hmm. Sounds suspiciously like a 1966 Series I Jaguar XKE convertible with the 4.2 L six that was perhaps the greatest engine of all time. My dad has one (heh), but he won't sell it to me for less than $35k (sigh).
My dad has tweaked the engine a bit, but his best estimate is that he gets just over 300 HP and 300 lb-ft of torque at around 3200 RPM. His top speed with the top up and down is 142 mph, but he won't tell me where he did this.
